Introduction
Most probably the only mode of public transport that most visitors of Amsterdam will use are the trams. That is simply because few buses operate in the center, and most hotels and tourist destinations can be reached by tram.
We recommend that you buy a ticket before boarding, since that is a lot cheaper.
It also helps to know how to board a tram.
After Midnight
Trams (and other "regular" public transport) are available from around 6 A.M. until around midnight only. See the timetable. To get back to your hotel from a night out, nightbuses may be a more budget-friendly option.
